Contributing Factors

Teen drivers often engage in risky behaviors that increase the likelihood of accidents:

  • Inexperience: Limited driving experience can lead to poor decision-making and slower reaction times.

  • Distractions: Use of mobile phones and in-car distractions are prevalent among teen drivers.

  • Speeding: Driving at excessive speeds reduces the ability to react to hazards.

  • Alcohol and Drugs: Substance use impairs judgment and reaction times.

  • Night Driving: Driving during nighttime hours increases crash risk due to reduced visibility and fatigue.
